The Best Dad Ever

Eph. 6:1-4, Eph. 5:24-27 (NKJV)

On Father’s Day, we want to Honor our fathers as Ephesians teaches. As a child, part of honoring is to obey and as we become adults, honoring is showing respect. When we become adults and start our own families, we begin to make our own decisions, but the part of respecting our fathers should always be evident at all ages. God blesses those that honor their parents.

For the 2017 U.S. Open Men’s Golf, Phil Mickelson decided to skip the tournament due to his daughter’s graduation that would be occurring on the same starting day. Some would say that makes him the best dad ever, considering that tournament would have been worth between $90,000 & $2.1 million to him (based on this year’s performance). Most men would not be in that type of position, but putting your family first, does show the qualities of a great dad!

What do we see in the scriptures that are signs of the best dad ever?

  1. He brings out the best in his children.
    a. He doesn’t create situations that bring out anger in his children.
    b. He trains his children with the proper discipline.
    c. He trains his children with the proper instruction. Which takes time.
  2. He brings out the best in his wife.
    a. He puts his wife before himself.
    b. He relieves pressure on his wife.
    c. He brings out the best qualities in his wife.

Do you show the qualities of the best dad ever? All it takes is to bring out the best in your children and your wife!
