John 14:15, 21-24, 28-31 (NKJV)
This week we will have Valentine’s Day! A day that many people will be motivated by love to do something special for their spouse, their family or a very close friend. Since love is an action word, people don’t really since love by only saying, I love you! They need to see some action. Our actions speak the loudest!
I’ve seen love motivate people to do things that they would not normally do. To risk their life or even do something that they would not normally consider a wise thing to do, but they will do it out of love.
In the scriptures today, we see that Jesus says, if you love me, you will keep my commandments, just like He did what God the Father asked of Him because of love.
What did Jesus do that was motivated by love?
- Jesus’ love for God motivated Him to not sin. (Heb. 4:15)
Is your love motivating you to sin less? (1 John 3:9) - Jesus’ love for God motivated Him to serve. (Matt. 20:28)
Is your love motivating you to serve more? (Ps. 100:2) - Jesus’ love for God motivated Him to give sacrificially. (John 15:13)
Is your love motivating you to give sacrificially? (2 Cor. 9:7)
What is your love for God motivating you to do or not do? Let’s get motivated by our love for God, arise and go from here to sin less, serve more and give sacrificially!
