Matt. 1:21 (NIV)
To send a baby to be born in an animal manger, just to live for 33 years and then to die on a cross. That seems like a strange plan to save the world.
When we say that something is strange, we are usually saying that it doesn’t seem natural or normal. We have to remember though, God said that His thoughts and ways are not like ours, they are much higher. Is. 55:8-9
God’s thoughts are that He is Holy and just and must punish sin. There is no forgiveness of sin except for the shedding of blood from a perfect sacrifice. God then saw that man was sinful and that all have sinned. This put God to dealing with a strange situation that would take strange action. But would it be all that strange?
Is it not normal to do strange things for those we love? John 3:16
Is it not normal to do strange things for something that is important? Luke 22:42
Is it not normal to do strange things to get the results that we want? 2 Peter 3:9
What were the results that God sought?
- God with us! Matt. 1:23
- God in us! Col. 1:27
- God for us! Rom. 8:31-32
That doesn’t seem strange to me, that seems wonderful!
